April Hawkins sentenced for felony theft conviction

April L. Hawkins has been sentenced to probation for stealing more than $5,000 worth of jewelry while working as a caregiver.

Linda Kilpatrick convicted of criminal threat, violation of protection from abuse order.

Linda J. Kilpatrick by a jury in Leavenworth County District Court of a criminal threat, violation of a protection from abuse order, interference with law enforcement and disorderly conduct.  She was charged for an incident that occurred June 16 in Tonganoxie.

 

 

Joseph Houseworth receives more than 21 years with the Department of Corrections

Joseph R. Housworth was sentenced Friday in Leavenworth County District Court for 10 felony charges and one misdemeanor. The crimes occurred in 2014.
Housworth was convicted after a jury trial of multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute various controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a School as well as conspiracy to distribute drugs, intimidation of a witness and other charges.

In February 2014, detectives with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office obtained evidence that Housworth was illegally distributing drugs from his Leavenworth home. Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence. Officers found hundreds of prescription pills packaged for distribution as well as methamphetamine.  

Brett Johnson sentenced for burglary of a dwelling

Brett Johnson has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for burglarizing a Leavenworth home,

The crime took place Aug. 27.  A neighbor reported seeing a stranger kick a garage door and back door of a neighbor's house. Police responded and observed Johnson exiting the front door, according to the release from County Attorney Todd Thompson, who prosecuted the case.

Jeffery Filley was sentenced to 73 months for illegal drug offenses

Jeffrey Filley was sentenced in Leavenworth County District Court to 73 months with the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Filley was charged following a Sept. 19, 2015 traffic stop in Leavenworth.  After making the traffic stop, a Leavenworth police officer determined that Filley's driver's license had been revoked. Filley was taken into custody.

After observing an open container of alcohol, officers searched Filley's vehicle. Police found a large amount of methamphetamine and several items associated with weighing and packaging controlled substances.
